Apple Stoke’s Red

Cider Apple Stoke’s Red

A classic English cider‑apple well prized for its sharp, astringent juice - ideal for blending into rich, full‑bodied ciders. The fruit are yellow with a red flush and darker striping, developing a slightly waxy surface. It originated in the Wedmore region and later became associated with Rodney Stoke in Somerset, rising to popularity in the 1920s.

Highly productive and scab-resistant, moderately vigorous tree with a spreading habit; a spur‐bearer, but tends to be somewhat twiggy and requires diligent pruning. It often has a biennial cropping tendency and starts to bear fruit around 6‑8 years of age. It requires a cold chill to ripen the fruit.
