Bred at the East Malling Research Station in 1972 from Apples Cox’s Orange Pippin and Falstaff, dessert Apple Meridian shows little of its Cox parentage but is a good modern apple, and a very good choice for the garden grower. The fruit is medium-sized, pale green striped orange-red, and the flesh is juicy and aromatic; very good keeper. The tree is moderately vigorous, upright and spreading, with good resistance to scab and mildew. Spur-bearer.
