An Irish heritage dessert variety, recorded in Co. Derry at the beginning of the 19th century, and once widely grown and appreciated in Northern Ireland. Also known as May Bloom. The fruit is medium-sized and round, with one side slightly flattened, yellow-green with an orange-red blush on one side; the flesh is crisp, white, juicy, sweet and well flavoured. Reliable, healthy tree, resistant to scab, and with lovely pink blossom. Good pollinator.
This Irish Heritage Apple variety was originally saved and propagated by Irish Seed Savers in Scarriff, County Clare.
