An old cider apple, discovered in Somerset in the mid-19th century. The apples are small, yellow, striped with red, the flavour is mild and bitter-sharp, best mixed with other varieties when making cider. Apple Camelot is a fairly vigorous tree, very healthy, with particularly good scab resistance, so particularly suitable for organic growing. Partial tip-bearer, so can’t be used for trained forms. Attractive pink blossom. Can also be used as a cooking apple, producing a sharp, yellow purée and making excellent apple-sauce.
