Anemone x hybrida Konigin Charlotte (syn. Queen Charlotte)

Japanese Anemone Konigin Charlotte

Also known as Japanese anemone Queen Charlotte, this beautiful anemone flowers for weeks in the second half of summer and into autumn. Anemone x hybrida Konigin Charlotte is a tall, vigorous, clump-forming, herbaceous perennial, long-lived and very easy to grow – just cut it back in late autumn. The deep green, tripartite, rather vine-like leaves appear early in the year, and provide attractive cover for the dying leaves of bulbs like ornamental alliums. From late July to September, pretty, semi-double, warm pink flowers with rounded, overlapping petals and golden stamens rise elegantly on wiry stems above the leaves; they are attractive to bees. Be aware that Japanese anemones can run at the root; they also hate being moved, so choose your site carefully. Japanese anemone Konigin Charlotte holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
