Amelanchier canadensis Glenn Form (syn. Rainbow Pillar)

Serviceberry Glenn Form

A cultivar of the Canadian amelanchier or serviceberry, once known as Rainbow Pillar and also known as Amelanchier canadensis 'Glenn Form' is a small, narrow, deciduous tree or large shrub with a dense, symmetrical habit, ideal for the small garden.  Green leaves turn to brilliant shades of red and bronze in autumn, colouring best in acid soil. A mass of white blossom appears before the leaves in spring, and is followed by round, red, berries which mature to black in June which can be used for cooking or preserves or left to attract wild birds.
