A large shrub or small tree of the myrtle family that typically matures to 2m to 2.5m and is native to Southern Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
Acca sellowiana is also known as Feijoa or Pineapple guava. The dark green, evergreen foliage is white and felty underneath and the flowers have waxy, edible, red petals, white on the edges and the reverse, and crimson stamens. Flowers are produced in midsummer and in warm climates are followed by red-tinged, dark green edible fruits which ripen in winter. Minimum temperature - 5°C but best sheltered from cold winds.
