Hydrangea seemannii

Hydrangea seemannii

A smaller species of climbing hydrangea, originally from Mexico, Hydrangea seemannii is a slow-growing, self-clinging, evergreen climber, for year-round interest in the smaller, milder garden. The attractive leaves are deep green and leathery, and from June to August, the plant is covered with pretty, greenish-cream, domed, lacecap flowers 15cm across. Seemann’s Climbing Hydrangea will be happy on a north wall, lighting it up during its long flowering period. It is slow to establish at first, when it must not be allowed to dry out, but will grow moderately quickly thereafter. Only frost hardy, so only suitable for milder areas.
