A free-flowering, repeating, David Austin-bred English rose, Rosa L D Braithwaite is a medium-sized, deciduous to semi-evergreen shrub rose with a bushy, rather lax, spreading habit and rather thorny stems. The divided foliage is a matte grey-green. From summer to autumn, successive flushes of large, rather flat but shapely, fully double, light crimson blooms are borne; the fragrance is a light Old Rose scent, which becomes a little stronger as the flower matures. The blooms are good for cutting. English shrub rose L D Braithwaite is healthy and reliable, and low maintenance for a rose.
