Aronia melanocarpa Galicjanka

Chokeberry Galicjanka

A highly productive Aronia with abundant edible berries, Aronia melanocarpa Galicjanka Is a substantial, deciduous shrub of average vigour with an upright, bushy, suckering habit. The green, egg-shaped leaves turn deep purple in autumn. Single white flowers appear in May and June and are followed in September and October by quite large black or blue-black berries, useful for making preserves, juices and liqueurs. Chokeberry Galicjanka is an exceptionally healthy, very hardy shrub, free from disease and easy to look after. Prune in spring; after planting remove twisted and suckering stems and cut stems back to three buds above the ground. In future years, remove twisted and suckering shoots and some of the older, thicker stems to prevent congestion. Can be planted as part of a fruiting hedge.
