Thalictrum rochebrunianum

Meadow Rue

Favoured for its lacy refined purple tinged delicate fern like foliage and sturdy purple stems. Thalictrum rochebrunianum begins flowering a bit later than other Meadow Rues, from mid Summer onwards. Starting with pearl like buds, in abundance, opening into a graceful cloud of tiny lavender flowers with exquisite fluffy yellow centres. The flowers are extremely attractive to butterflies and other pollinators making it perfect for the wildlife garden. Very interesting cut flowers. Generally resistant to grazing deer and rabbits. Meadow Rue prefers moist humus rich soil in dappled shade. They are perfect for naturalising in a woodland or shrubby border. Due to its size and bushy habit, Thalictrum rochebrunianum makes an excellent gap filler and also an impressive stand alone specimen.
