A repeat-flowering rugosa rose bred in Canada, Rosa Jens Munk is a medium-sized, vigorous, deciduous shrub rose with a compact, bushy, suckering habit, and very prickly stems. The divided, leathery leaves have narrow leaflets that are very deeply veined and glossy green, turning yellow in autumn; they are very healthy. From June to August, the shrub bears scented, semi-double, lilac-pink flowers with golden stamens. These are followed by small, round red hips which persist well into autumn. One of the Canadian Explorer series, rose Jens Munk was named after the Norwegian explorer, and, like him, is a really tough, healthy plant. Can be grown as an informal hedge.
