Prunus Umineko

Flowering Cherry Umineko

A beautiful flowering cherry, Prunus Umineko (white-tailed sea-eagle) Is a large, deciduous tree with an upright, fairly open habit. The leaves emerge pale green, turning deep green in summer and orange to deep purple in autumn. Masses of single white flowers, an inch/4cm across, appear in late April. Flowering cherry Umineko can be pruned in midsummer if silver-leaf disease is a problem, but the tree really needs minimal pruning, or you may spoil the graceful shape. Flowering cherry Umineko makes a wonderful specimen tree, and is suitable for a smaller garden, thanks to its narrow width.
