It forms a low, neat, semi-evergreen herbaceous mound and delivers an outstanding multi-season performance. In early Spring, stocky, upright stems rise above the foliage bearing dense, branched clusters of vibrant, deep pinkish-purple, bell-shaped flowers that are highly attractive to early pollinators. Following the bloom, large, glossy, toothed leaves emerge a rich green colour. By mid-summer, a crimson-red border begins to bleed inward from the leaf margins, eventually enveloping the entire plant in a fiery claret-purple display that persists late into the year. This slow-growing, low-maintenance choice forms a tight, weed-suppressing clump.
