Rubus Benenden

Tridel Berry Benenden

A beautiful, hybrid relative of the blackberry, Rubus Benenden is a large, vigorous, almost thornless, deciduous shrub with an upright, arching habit and attractive, light-brown, peeling bark. The mid-green leaves are three- to five-lobed, about 2 ½ - 3”/6-8cm long. In April and May, beautiful, pure white flowers with conspicuous yellow stamens, like dog-roses, 2”/5cm across, are borne all along the stems. Blackberry-like fruits follow in autumn. Good as ground cover in a wild garden, tridel berry Benenden holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Can be cut right back in winter.
