Quince Meech's Prolific

Quince Meech’s Prolific

Bred in the USA, Quince Meech’s Prolific is one of the most popular and reliable quinces for warmer parts of Ireland. The fruit is large, pear-shaped, yellow when fully ripe; it is highly aromatic, with an excellent, tart flavour when cooked, and is ideal for quince jelly. The tree is very attractive, gnarled and twiggy, moderately vigorous and spreading, with beautiful pink blossom like single roses in June. Tip-bearer. Heavy cropper, coming notably early into bearing; thin fruitlets if the crop is heavy. Pick the fruit before the first frosts, spread out on trays away from other fruit and allow to ripen fully to yellow before using.
