Pear Catillac

Pear Catillac

An ancient variety of late culinary pear from 17th century Versailles, Pear Catillac has stood the test of time for its lovely flavour and very long keeping qualities. Large, hard, greenish-yellow fruit with a red flush; slightly coarse-textured flesh turns pink with a gorgeous flavour after the very long, slow cooking it requires. Moderately vigorous, hardy, reliable tree with a weeping habit and particularly attractive flowers. Very heavy cropper; spur-bearer. Triploid variety, so needs two pollination partners if all three are to bear or one other self fertile variety.
