Quercus Acutissima - Sawtooth Oak

Sawtooth Oak

A beautiful example of an oak tree, Native to Asia. It bears beautiful light yellow flowers in long clusters before the leaves break bud in the Spring. Growing tall and wide to an eventually large tree, it's best placed in a larger garden. Eventually it will develop unusual looking bristly cupped acorns, which are well sought after by birds and squirrels. Quercus Acutissima is widely planted in the U.S. for this reason, as it bears more consistent crops each year when other oaks have quite poor years. Its common name refers to the jagged edged leaves that resemble Sweet chestnut species rather than traditional oaks.
